Race the celebrated Hollænderseilasen as part of a real crew. Hollænderen is known for its welcoming atmosphere and low threshold for entry. Many sailors race here for the very first time, while others come back year after year.
Over two days on the Oslo Fjord, you will experience what regatta sailing is all about. You handle the lines, read the wind, and make decisions that matter, as a crew member, not a passenger. Great conditions, good people, and a perfect weekend at sea!
Spots are limited. This one fills fast.
Participation in this course requires a completed OSA Beginner Course or equivalent demonstrated sailing experience. Not sure if you qualify? Get in touch and we'll help you find out.
About THE REGATTA course
Experience real sail racing in authentic conditions
The regatta course at Oslo Seilakademi is a comprehensive package designed to give you hands-on experience from both short training races an longer offshore regattas in the inner and outer Oslofjord.
The course includes:
Two training races (afternoon/evening) in the inner Oslo Fjord, sailed on Wednesdays together with Bunnefjorden Sailing Association.
One long-distance regatta, where you take part as an active member of a racing crew.
In 2026, we participate in:
Færderseilasen - the iconic overnight race starting on 12 June in Oslo and finishing in Moss the following morning. The race is approx 43 nautical miles, rounding Hollenderbåen in the outer Oslofjord.
Hollenderseilasen - a similar distance race around 43 nautical miles, starting and finishing in Holmestrand.
Both regattas conclude with large social events in the host harbours, bringing together sailors from across Eastern Norway and Sweden. These gatherings are an important part of the experience, offering community, shared learning and a strong sense of the wider sailing environment.
During all races, experienced instructors are onboard, one in the cockpit and one on the foredeck, providing guidance, observation and clear feedback in real time.
The course is ideal for sailors looking to develop as confident crew members and gain experience in demanding, real-world regatta conditions.
