practical information

Everything you need to know before joining your course — from meeting points and equipment to safety rules.

Before you get onboard

To make the most of your experience, we recommend arriving well prepared. Sailing is an outdoor activity influenced by weather and conditions, so comfort and preparedness are important.

What to keep in mind:

  1. Arrive latest 15 minutes early for check-in and briefing

  2. Dress according to the weather forecast, see more information below

  3. Let us know about any medical conditions or concerns beforehand

  4. Bring a positive attitude and enjoy the experience!

Meeting point

All courses start from Kongen Marina unless otherwise specified in your booking confirmation.

Important details:

  1. The adress of Kongen Marina is Frognerstranda 4, 0250 Oslo.

  2. Please arrive on time — the boat cannot wait for late arrivals

  3. Meet at the large orange information tower close to the restaurant. Look for the Oslo Sail Academy flag or instructor

  4. If any problems finding the boat in time: call +47 91568223

What to bring

We provide life jackets to all participants. However, there are a few personal items you should bring to stay comfortable for maximum joy.

We recommend:

  1. Comfortable shoes with good grip (please avoid black soles/shoes that leave marks)

  2. Sunglasses and sunscreen

  3. Water bottle and food (ready to eat without further preparations)

  4. Change of clothes (optional, but recommended)

Clothing & weather

Weather conditions on the water can change quickly, even during summer. It often feels colder at sea due to wind and water exposure.

We recommend:

  1. Wear several layers (3 layers recommended) instead of one thick jacket

  2. Wear a jacket (and trousers if possible) suitable for wet conditions and wind

  3. Avoid garments made of cotton (dries poorly)

  4. If available, bring extra protection against wind and rain

  5. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting slightly wet
